Malta’s TEN-T network comprises of 51km of highway forming the main north-south transport corridor. The five sections of this project reconstructed another 12km of road.
Strategic connectivity between the main towns and links leading to Gozo is vital in creating a knowledge-based economy. Reduced journey time enhances productivity and competitiveness, particularly in an economy that is highly dependent on service sectors such as tourism. The selected projects under this Phase were located on the strategic route that links the airport and the cruise liner terminal with the tourist centres in Malta and Gozo and facilitate the movement of tourists around the islands.
