Programme Overview

Erasmus+ is the European Union Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2021-2027. It has a budget of €26.2 billion for all of Europe, to fund learning mobility and cooperation projects for Europeans of all ages and backgrounds.

The general objective of the Programme is to support, through lifelong learning, the educational, professional and personal development of people in education, training, youth and sport, in Europe and beyond, thereby contributing to sustainable growth, quality jobs and social cohesion, to driving innovation, and to strengthening European identity and active citizenship.

All European Priorities in the 2023 Erasmus+ Call are all relevant to the national context and therefore the National Agency will accept proposals that address any of the priorities: Horizontal, Field-specific (For KA2 proposals) and also additional National priorities. The Programme has the following specific objectives:

  • promote learning mobility of individuals and groups, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion and equity, excellence, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies in the field of education and training;
  • promote non-formal and informal learning mobility and active participation among young people, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies in the field of youth;
  • promote learning mobility of sport staff, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of sport organisations and sport policies.

Erasmus+ Programme has four horizontal priorities: Inclusion and Diversity; Digital Transformation; Environment and Fight Against Climate Change; and Participation in Democratic Life.

#ErasmusDays2024

Established in 2017 by the Erasmus+ French National Agency/Education Training, the #ErasmusDays have rapidly become a significant European event for individuals and stakeholders involved in training, and youth development.

This initiative aims to provide insights into the various opportunities available in Europe in the fields of education, training, and solidarity. It offers a platform for program participants to showcase their projects and share their valuable Erasmus+ experiences. From primary and secondary schools to apprenticeship training centers, universities, and other institutions, organizations from diverse sectors are encouraged to join and contribute to the dynamic Erasmus+ community. Voice your vision – The European Youth Week is back in April 2024!

Dates: 12 – 19 April 2024

The European Youth Week 2024 (EYW), organised by the European Commission to promote youth engagement, participation and active citizenship, will take place on 12-19 April.

The European Youth Week 2024 is being held 2 months ahead of the European elections scheduled to be held on 6 to 9 June 2024. This means that democracy and European elections will both be in the center of the debate. It’s time for youth in Europe to become more engaged in society and to put democracy in action. In Malta, organisations can apply to EUPA for funding for decentralised actions; Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals and Key Action 2: Partnerships for Cooperation for organisations active in Adult Education, School Education, Vocational Education and Training, Higher Education, Youth and Sport.

Other aspects of the Erasmus+ Programme are managed centrally at European level by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) located in Brussels. Here organisations can view other funding opportunities available at European level. Further information can be obtained directly from the EACEA website.

Useful Information

DG EAC is the Commission department responsible for EU policy on education, youth, sport and culture. DG EAC develops and carries out the Commission’s policies on Culture and media; Sport; Education and training and Youth.

The department also supports these policies and priorities through a variety of projects and programmes including the Erasmus+ Programme.

The Erasmus+ PROJECTS RESULTS PLATFORM is a platform one can search for Erasmus+ projects in interested field, explore projects with exceptional outcomes and stories, and find inspiration for own projects.
