European Partnerships for School Development is a new strategic action under the Erasmus+ 2026 Programme Guide (Key Action 2), designed to strengthen and scale up European cooperation in school education by creating long-lasting structures and capacity that make cross-border collaboration and mobility a standard part of school life. These partnerships bring together school authorities, schools, and relevant stakeholders from at least two programme countries to work collaboratively over a three-year period on improving the quality of teaching, learning and organisational practices, while building institutional capacity for international cooperation and mobility.
Each European Partnership for School Development receives a lump sum grant of EUR 400,000 to implement a project that strategically integrates activities across two complementary areas:
- Enhancing the quality of learning and teaching through the design, testing and implementation of innovative learning activities, collaborative teaching approaches, peer learning and mentoring for staff, and improved resource management;
- Building capacity for cross-border mobility and cooperation by establishing supportive structures such as mobility coordinators or international offices, mainstreaming transnational activities into school practice, addressing administrative barriers to cooperation, and providing training for school leaders and educators. Activities should be designed to have a long-term impact on participating organisations and the wider school ecosystem, creating conditions for sustainable cooperation beyond the life of the project.
To be eligible, a partnership must involve a minimum of six organisations from at least two programme countries. This partnership must include one school authority or coordinating body, along with a minimum of three schools: two from the coordinator’s country and one from another participating country.
The applicant organisation must be a local or regional school authority or coordinating body that applies on behalf of all participating partners.
Prospective applicants are expected to develop a coherent project proposal that demonstrates strategic planning, clear objectives, a robust work plan with detailed activities across the two focus areas, and arrangements for project management, quality assurance and long-term impact.
