Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) is a mandatory requirement for all higher education institutions wishing to participate in Erasmus+ mobility and cooperation actions.

The ECHE confirms that institutions:

  • Meet Erasmus+ quality standards
  • Apply fair and transparent procedures
  • Promote inclusion, sustainability, and digitalisation

ECHE Responsibilities

Institutions holding an ECHE must:

  • Implement Erasmus+ activities in line with ECHE principles
  • Ensure equal access and non-discrimination
  • Provide academic recognition of mobility periods
  • Comply with monitoring and reporting requirements

Higher Education institutions holding a valid ECHE are required to follow the ECHE Monitoring Guide issued by the European Commission.
