The objective of the Swiss-Maltese Second Contribution Programme is to contribute to the reduction of the economic and social disparities within the EU and within Malta, building upon and further strengthening the bilateral relations between Switzerland and the EU and its Member States. Malta is a Swiss Fund beneficiary, together with the other Member States which joined the EU on 1 May 2004.
The allocation committed by Switzerland for Malta under the Framework Agreement for the Second Swiss Contribution is CHF 3.5M. The financing from this contribution shall not exceed 85% of the total eligible expenditure.
Following the successful implementation of the first Contribution Programme, the Framework Agreement for the Second Swiss Contribution was signed between Switzerland and Malta in November 2022. The period of eligibility of expenditure ends on 3 December 2029.
Support Measure for the Second Swiss-Maltese Contribution Programme
The support measure under the Second-Swiss Contribution Programme shall focus on the  strengthening of social systems by targeting health and social protection. Building on the investment already supported through the First Swiss Contribution Agreement, this initiative will aim to provide citizens with a better quality of life by improving health services through the enhancement of early intervention, preventive as well as diagnostic measures.
