The objective of this investment is to provide incentives for a shift to electric mobility, reducing emissions, and alleviating traffic congestion on the Maltese Islands. The EUR 50.3 million investment provides for a scheme of 5600 grants for the purchase of electric vehicles and pedelecs. It also includes incentives for scrappage. The calls for applications were launched in 2022 and renewed in 2023. At least 1000 grants were awarded by end-2023 and a further 4600 grants by 31 December 2024.
