This project had the aim of rehabilitating the Xewkija Windmill, making it functional by reinstalling a milling mechanism and undertaking other related structural improvements. Although the windmill is situated on Gozo’s main road, its potential as a tourist attraction was untapped, given its previously derelict state. The project has thus been instrumental in bringing this heritage site to life and in turning it into a Folk Dance Centre, whilst in turn improving Gozo’s tourism product.
